Photo Contest

Wilderness Wildlife Week Photo Contest

The past year has brought so many challenges and rewards.  It is humbling to sit back and reflect, review, and make new resolutions.  I have been thinking hard and comparing myself to photographers that are successful, have sales, and prints hanging in businesses and have been on the cover of magazines, and on the news to showcase the stunning view of weather on a mountain landscape.  I am am at awe for them.  Creating this website, a Facebook page, and Instagram account have me trying to copy thier success while trying to create my own.  I hear you.  Stop trying to be them.  Be your own, Be you. I don’t generally tell people this in a conversation, but I think, they think this.

I was encouraged to submit my work into the 2026 Wilderness Wildlife Week Photo Contest.  After some thought, I agreed I would and I did.  I asked a close friend which may be the best, and did not used any of the suggested photos.  What the contest judges do not know, is that all my submissions are not edited, and that I am going against professional level photographers that do edit their work.  That does not mean my work is better, it means I was trying to take some of my best work to compare to theirs in this contest.

Naturally, I did not place in any category, or win any awards.  But there they were, my photos scrolling on the big TV’s for review.  I must say, my photos fit right in along side theirs.  It stunned me at first, then I told myself I belong there, and I have to good eye and am very much worthy.  As I stood behind folks in chairs, watching all the photos scroll through, I overhead many people compliment my work, and even a few even said it was very strong competition.  This helped raise my confidence a great deal.   I won’t let it go to my head, but will continue to learn my craft and grow in my talent.  I will share the photos I heard compeliments about here with you.  Click to open each photo to see the full image.  Thank you.

Please continue to follow my social media pages and I thank you for you support.
