Sunset

One of my favorite times of the day is sunset.  It is not for the end of the day and the emotional release, knowing that rest is upon us, or that knowing it’s time to go in after dark.  It is about the coolness that follows.  That little bit chill, just for a moment when the sun disappears.  It is about slowing down and stopping, listening to the animals, and the fields and trees as the sun slides under the horizon.  Joining other ‘sun seekers’ that enjoy the sunset, celebrating another day.

It’s even deeper than that.  I enjoy recounting the day, thinking about the conversations, sharing, joy, and listening and learning about other people’s lives as we share the sunset together.  You realize how you are truly not alone, and that everyone has a story they want to share.  Each of us has survived so much and have grown and come so far in our lives journey.  When I’m standing next to someone sharing a sunset, I know they feel a connection to my own story, as I do their story, and we can be ‘brothers’ and lean on each other for a moment.

The colors.  I love the intensity of colors.  I want to share that with you.  I want you to see what I see.  Unedited.  And my photos of sunsets are truly unedited.  The camera sees the colors a little richer than the eye.  But the intensity is there. I have recently taken telephoto photos of the sun and tried to capture it full and intense as the circle.  The fireball in the sky.  In the clouds, under the clouds, setting into the horizon.  These photos are some examples I have of this style of photo.  This style may not capture the full intense feeling, but the colors around the setting sun during the sunset do for sure.  Share your comments and let me know what you think about the fireball photos. Thank you.
