All throughout the year, I compelled to view as many sunsets as I can. I love rich, deep array of colors that each sunset brings. In life, we oftentimes become so busy living that we just take for granted the setting sun as the end of day and see it as the arrival of nighttime. Which may only bring about the worry or thought of different responsibilities. Some people like the darkness of night better than the day and vice versa. Others are not bothered by either, because they know they have responsibilities at all hours of the day or night.
I am a day person. I like light and am far more productive during the daylight. For me, the sunset is a reminder of my day and how it went. A time of reflection and wonder. I sit back to relax and ask myself questions. Did I accomplish what I was required of me? Did I appreciate the people and family around me? Did I help and support those I love? What can I do to better myself? Deep questions. Yes. But most often I am alone during sunset and the time to reflect on, process how to change, is during this time is now.
When I share the sunset with my friend Bill, a few of these questions spill out, and he remarks that any change promotes growth and betterment in self, and we can do this anytime. Always the realist/purist. He gives me big smile to reassure me. I don’t seek the validation, I seek the self-awareness that I am getting better, changing and getting over the past that I hold on to so strongly. We are the product of what we think we are. Which in most cases is the way we were raised and what we were told to believe. Hold on, I am not saying go off the edge and any freewill thought is appropriate. What I am saying is there is a moral compass that should guide you for right and wrong. Seek out that still small voice and reach out to others. Give and give more. The blessings will find you!
Sunsets can be a time of reflection, yes. But I do just love to sit a watch all the changes as they happen so quickly. I take way too many photos of each sunset. Nearly 60-100. So when you see a sunset post of mine, know that you’ve only seen a small fraction of what was enjoyed. I save most of the rest of the photos and can share them with you in a folder if you ask for them. So, get out to see more sunsets, share them with friends or loved ones. Help them explore the colors of their soul and see what you find.
